We join the rest of the RAF community in paying tribute to F/L John Cruickshank VC who passed away this week. He was the last surviving VC recipient from WW2.

Whilst Cruickshank’s exploits were truly remarkable he undoubtedly relied on the professionalism and teamwork of the whole crew. In fact his flight engineer, W/O Samuel Harbison, was awarded the DFC and his citation records his actions on that famous sortie.
